C. B. Humphres [sic], age 29, Private, Capt. Lewis' Company, McRae's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry,* joined for duty and enrolled June 26,1862 at Springfield for 3 years or the war, recorded on July 18, 1862 as detailed as wagoner, no further records

* This company subsequently became Company E, 36th Regiment Arkansas Infantry. The regiment was designated at various times as McRae's Regiment Arkansas Infantry, Glenn's Regiment Arkansas Infantry and Davie's Regiment Arkansas Infantry; and at the same time it was also known as 2nd Regiment Trans-Mississippi Infantry, 28th Regiment Arkansas Infantry, and 36th Regiment Arkansas Infantry

Note: He must have been dropped from the rolls for some reason, discharge, disability, death, capture, desertion, transfer, etc., as he does not appear on any subsequent company muster roll.

Charles B. Humphries, Private, Company A, 1st Regiment (Crawford's) Arkansas Cavalry,** enlisted January 12, 1863 at Camden by Maj. Elliott for the war, recorded on the Jan & Feb, 1864 muster roll as absent, detailed as Courier in Camden since Jan, 64 by order Gen. Holmes, no other records

1st or Crawford's Arkansas Cavalry Rgt.

Col. William A. Crawford, LtCol. D. L. Kilgord, Maj. J. W. Walker

The regiment was formed during the spring of 1863 as a battalion, but
two additional companies were added to bring it up to regimental
strength. It served in W. A. Crawford's and W. F. Slemons' brigade and
fought at Poison Spring and Marks' Mills, then was active in Price's
1864 Missouri expedition. The unit was included in the surrender of the
Trans-Mississippi Department on June 2, 1865.
