And just to put a perspective on today.... it ain't much better. When we had roughly 20+ soldiers medevaced to Germany, US etc, we played the dickens trying to find out where they were, get doucmentation, fill out LOD's etc. Seems like they fall off the world and it took real effort, getting my butt chewed by a full bird for bothering him just to find out what happened to them and where they were. So, in almost 150 years it is better but I can imagine how it was to do the same back then, almost impossible.
