Pamela:

See Official Records, Series II, Volume 8, page 32

Statement of grade and equivalents of prisoners delivered to Major James R. Curell, C. S. agent of exchange in Mobile Bay, Alabama from the garrison of Fort Gaines, {on} January 6, 1865.

This record is a table of exchange equivalents showing the number by rank of Confederate prisoners being returned and their equivalents. The number of privates delivered was 473. Private McDonald Reaves, 21st Alabama Infantry would have been among them. He was paroled for exchange at Ship Island on 4 JAN 1865 and delivered to Confederate authorities in Mobile Bay on 6 JAN 1865.

Camp Townsend (in the "Aubrey Territory") located east of Vicksburg at the west end of the Southern Railroad Bridge over Big Black River was established as the primary exchange delivery point in the western theatre on 16 MAR 1865. Red River Landing in Point Coupe Parish, Louisiana was still the delivery point with the Trans-Mississippi.

Hope this helps!
