My GGUncle, John Stinson, (Comp I 18th AL). was promoted to Sharpshooters after Shiloh. I have 2 sources, muster card from N. Archives records states June 12, Tupelo Miss,... "transferred S Shooters by order of Gen Jackson." My other source, Capt Mickles report from "Camp Beulah" states that he was transferred to sharpshooter "Battalion." That same report mentions that Comp I was blended with Capt Thomason's Comp of Col Blount's 5th AL Battalion on April 26th, '62. I am looking for clarification as to whether or not he stayed with the 18th or was moved to another unit. I am interested in any material specifically written about sharpshooters, for obvious reasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
