Hayes LoweVery confusing.Fri Feb 23 15:01:03 2001 Before I saw your reply, I went to the library. I thought that I had remembered seeing a drawer full of microfilm on Alabama Militia. Sure nuff, it was there. Covered Alabama Militia 1820's through 1865.Now the strange thing is that the militia units that we have been talking about don't seem to be in this microfilm. I quickly looked through one roll, the Lo's-Mc's. The man that I've been looking for in the 2nd Ala. Inf. Militia was not there. In fact, I couldn't find any reference to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. All these militia units during the Civil War period were double digit numbers, such as the 28th, 34th, 38th, 97th.Are these militia units different from those raised for the three month period mentioned? All that I saw were in the latter years of the war (1863-65).I'm going to have to find the rolls you list and see what I find there.Allow me... Alan J.
