He also served in the 3rd Alabama Volunteer Infantry, Company I.A different (?) John J. Lowe was conscripted about that same time in Tuscaloosa County. He was assigned to the 17th Alabama Militia Regiment under the command of Maj. Prince."You'll notice that the Pickens County John J. Lowe is a *voluteer*...it is specifically noted in his record. That is one reason that I was so confused by the militia records. This came from the Alabama Militia 1820-1865 microfilm.How do we explain this? Alan J.
