Both Hollywood and Oakwood Cemeteries burial ledgers have survived. Most of the soldiers that died in the hospitals were known and logged into the registers when interred. Even if a respective grave is without a gravestone... the register has their identity recorded. The largest majority of unknown's buried at both cemeteries were mostly battlefield casualties, and/or those reinterred from the field later. If the person in question was sick in one of the Richmond hospitals and died there the chances are high that he could be amongst the identified. I've researched plenty of others in Richmond.

One of the SCV groups is reportedly working on transcribing the Oakwood interments, but that's been several years ago and still nothing noted published or has been released. Hollywood internments are publicly known and several different publications upon it out there. Those are the two primary burial grounds utilized for Confederate soldiers in or around Richmond.

The building that once was the Second Georgia Hospital still stands. A number of years ago when I was a Medic in Richmond I spent much of my idle time researching and searching for structures still remaining from the war time era. This building was one that I located. Bottom floor was a commercial business, and they allowed me to explore the rest of the building... the upper floors were nearly completely intact as they were during the war... white washed hand hewn timbers... the old iron lantern hooks still hanging from the beams....
