My own monograph of John Kirkland of Vaughn's 3rd and Tim Lyons is also proceeding with glacial slowness. Reading about Polk County put me in mind of the Hiwassee River country. Lots of warfare there through out time, starting with the Cherokees wiping out a band of Muskogeans on a peace mission in 1715, I think. And probably long before that. Beautiful country that George.
