Try this address for information from Rock Island. Some of the records are illegible but they do have some copies from the National Archives stored there. There was no charge when I got some information from there.

This website gives the name and UNIT for most of the POWs who died at Rock Island.

During some of my research of the Army of Tennessee, I have found that sometimes when a soldier was captured and missing, he was listed as "deserted" until confirmed a POW. Sometimes the "deserted" was never cleared too, when in fact the soldier was a POW. This happened to a friend of mine's great grandfather, who was a POW at Camp Morton from the 46th Tennessee Infantry. When he applied for a pension from TN he had problems getting it because of this not being in his records.
