Gerald French, you mentioned Capt. Buchanan, your gg grandfather. My gg grandmother was Virginia Buchanon Hemphill (b 1833 - d 1910). Her husband was A. J. Hemphill of the 31st MS (died of injuries on 9/22/1863). They lived in Choctoc County/Ackerman/French Camp. I know the spelling is different but does her name appear in your family tree? I have also seen the spelling as Buchannon. Would love to know.
