Don ... I will write you a separate email and attach the photo which I have gotten from the original. I sent it also to Gerald French. His thinking is that my photo is not of the 42nd infantry, but possibly of the 1st MS Cavalry in which two Elmore brothers served: George T. Elmore and his brother, Jacob Wesley Elmore. I will let you decide.

Furthermore, I was able to get the service record of my great grandfather, Pvt. George Carwile Harmon of the 42nd, Company I. He was listed as being absent from the Gettysburg battle because of illness. This may have saved his life ... He apparently had pneumonia and only recovered in time to see battle at Bristoe Station, where he was wounded and basically taken out of the war at that point.
