Re: Uniform of the 42nd Mississippi

Don, while searching the Military History Online - Civil War Geneology Database, I saw an account of the war service of James Alfred Conner of Company I, 42nd Mississippi. He writes that his company entered the fight at Gettysburg with 52 men and lost 23 the first day. He says the company came out of the fight on the third day with only three men who were not shot, and these were the smallest men in the company - Don Still, Green Cain, and Tince Harmon. Conner was himself wounded in his left hand. Who is Green Cain? Is he related to the Cains you cited? Tom
