Joe, as far as I have been able to determine, of the many Confederate soldiers who died at Pass Christian and Shieldsboro from measles and fever outbreaks, there are only two marked graves in a cemetery in Pass Christian. I have seen the two graves, but can not determine if they died during the time the regiments were training on the coast or at a later date. I do not know of any burials in Shieldsboro; but I am almost certain there were.

Many of those who died had family who were able to remove their bodies and return them to their family cemeteries. Keep on using this board. You have gained much valuable information in a very short period of time. My 7th Mississippi regimental History has taken 10 years to get to where we are almost ready to publish.

Remember you are trying to make a record of these men's lives. Sometimes the search ruffles feathers, but we all want the same thing "to find out as much as possible about their actions during the war and to record as much as possible for future generations".
