The 15th Confederate Cavalry was based out of Halls Mills camp, west of Mobile in the returns of Sept. 1863. The only other Confederate unit I know that was in the area at that time was Col. John. L. Logan's large command of cavalry consisting of the 11th and 17th Arkansas consolidated, 9th Tennessee Battalion., Cochran's Battlion, Garland's Battalion, Hughe's Battalion, and Stockdale's Battalion based out of Clinton, LA. He was reported around Port Hudson LA, Liberty MS, and areas in South West Mississippi in the Summer of 1863, but in late October he was reported up near the central part of the state but units under his command may have also been on the coast.
