Dr. Charles Sullivan, Professor Emeritus, Miss. Gulf Coast Community College, wrote a book on the history of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The cavalry action on the coast was mentioned but I believe most was in the eastern end of the coast near Pascagoula and toward Mobile. I know partisan cavalry worked the coast from time to time after the 3rd Mississippi left for upstate, but do not know unit numbers.
