As John Russell and perhaps others in this thread have mentioned, Joseph M. Street was listed on the 1870 census, and his service card shows he was mustered out in February 1865. He obviously, therefore, was not killed by Bohannon, Holtzclaw, and company during their October 1864 Carrollton raid as I erroneously reported in my Other Noted Guerrillas book. There was a Joseph Street killed, but it was a different person. The name Joseph Street, combined with Edwards's assertion that Holtzclaw avenged his father's death or something to that effect, caused me to jump to a too hasty conclusion, which I'm gradually learning not to do when it comes to historical research.
