Don;

Ran across a very nice history of the Holtzclaw's, you may already be familiar with it. It has a very impressive section on the Old World Holtzclaws that is well sourced.

The Genealogy of the Holtzclaw Family 1540 - 1935
by B.C. Holtzclaw PhD, University of Richmond, VA.; Old Dominion Press, Richmond VA, 1936.

Its very well done. It helps clear up the James Holtzclaw question on page 41.

" The only one of Jacob Holtclaw's sons who moved away from Virginia was his son, Jacob, who in 1775 sold the land his father had left him in Fauquier Co and moved to the new land of Kentucky. He was living in Kentucky in 1776 for in tha year he made application for a grant of land, stating he had raised a crop of corn on it. "

And On page 56-57

"Jacob Holtzclaw (Jacob): b 2-17,1738 in Prince William County VA; d. Oct 21, 1812, in Mercer County KY near Harrodsburg; m abt 1758 Susannah ______(b Oct 10, 1745 in VA; d. Oct 10, 1821, in Mercer County KY).

Jacob and Susannah moved to Mercer County KY between 1775 and 1782, being among the first settlers near Harrodsburg. While living in KY he served in the Revolutionary War, in a Company of Lincoln Coounty Militia commanded by Captain Samuel Kirkham, in an expedition under General Clark against enemy Indians in 1782 (cf Illinois Papers, Documenet 79, Det of Archives, Virgina State Library, Richmond).

Issue:
Leenah, b Sept 12, 1759
Elijah, b Aug 24, 1764; m. Sarah Collier 1801; moved to Trimble Co. KY; had a son Thomas.
Jacob b April 19, 1767
Elizabeth b Dec 28, 1769
Nellee b Aug 31, 1772
Susannah b Mar 30 1775; m Enoch Kemper, son of Jon Kemper, in KY, Garrard Co, Feb 24 1798. He was b. Dec 17, 1777.
Benjamin b June 25, 1777
Ruth b Oct 30, 1779
Jesse b June 25, 1782
Mary Ann b Nov 13, 1785
Sarah b June 25 1791
James b March 25 1797"

The book is then silent on any descendents or history of James (Jacob, Jacob). So it appears that James of Howard Co Missouri is Jacob's son in this listing which is the best I've found to date. I may have to accept that Susannah was just a fertile-myrtle and kept spitting out kids.

There are Kerr's listed, but the index does not have any Haeger/Yaeger listings.
