BURNETT, Richard Henry Hughes. Publisher; born, Canton, Mo., Jan. 9, 1849; son, W. J. and Eliza F. Burnett; descendant of Bishop Burnett, noted English divine, and on maternal side from Bishop Asbury, also noted English prelate; descendant of Gov. David S. Burnett, of Tex. Edu.: Central College, Fayette, Howard Co., Mo. Married, Sue E. Lancaster, Oct., 1873, at Waxabachie, Tex. Licensed to preach in M. E. Church, South, 1871, and went to Texas same year as a missionary; was known as the "Texas Evangelist" in frontier and border work; was noted revivalist; contributed largely in developing Texas. Brought perhaps more than 100,000 people in the church; built many churches in Texas. Bus. Mgr. and Editor, Western Printing Co., Hope, N. M.; publisher of "The Penasco Valley Press." Owns 400 acres of land and an experimental farm and orchard. Has three children: Abe M., Pres., Western Printing Co.; Mrs. J. W. Smith, Verona, Mo.; Mrs. W. E. Baskin, Seymour, Tex.
