Texan: Richard H. H. Burnett

I'm posting the text of a e-mail I got from the UDC in NM looking for Richard H. H. Burnett. He was with Hardeman's 4th Tx Cavalry (Mounted) as a courier, is all they have found, but was part of the UCV and listed Mo Indep. Cav. The "VA" is not taking that service record info for proof of service. Lets see if we can find something for them. thanks Neil

Hi: I am with Ellen W. Jones Chapter 1022, UDC Portales, NM looking for
proof that a MO Confederate was with MO Independent Cavalry. He does
not have a tombstone and we applied. The VA refused because of several
reasons.
Richard H.H. Burnett was a member of the Val Verde Camp UCV 1419 in
1901 and 1903 in
Roswell, NM. he signed in as MO independent Cavalry. I could not
locate him anywhere.
then a descendant told me he was in TX during the war. We found
Burnett (no first name or initial) as a courier which matched what she
told me with Hardeman's Unit, but VA would not accept that as there was
no first name or initial.
Can you direct me to find this Independent Cav? I am sorry I have no
more information on him except that he was from MO. He is buried in
Woodbine Cemetery, Artesia, Eddy Co NM. I have tried fold3
Ancestry.lcom and have his census records. the 1910 does not show he
served, but he is on the list of Conf. Veterans at their annual reunions.
Thanks so much. Janelle Foster Janelle Foster 4grmm346@yucca.net
