Born in Lewis County I'm guessing

Thanks you for replying about Richard Henry H. Burnett. He was born Jan 6, 1847 supposedly in Lewiston, MO don't know the county. On the Valverde Camp of UCV in 1901, Roswell, Chaves Co NM, he said he was with
the MO Independent Cavalry, but never could find that or any muster roll for him from MO. Then a grandaughter said he was in TX and was a courier. I found a Burnett, Co D and F in Mann's Regiment (Bradford's) TX Cavalry, but there was not a first name or initial. He died Dec 5, 1927 with only a
death cert.om Artesia, NM. VA would not accept that as proof of burial, although there is only one cemetery in that town. They would not accept the muster rolls as there was no first name or initial, just the last name on the roll.
The 1920 census of Eddy Co NM says he was born in MO, age 70, widow, with parents born in KY. His son Abe was born in TX, age 30 on that census. His tombstone in Artesia lists him as Father Burnett. Another reason VA would not accept the application. He had been an evangelist in the Dallas area before coming to NM.

If you find anything on him, we would appreciate it. Thanks so much. Janelle Foster
