What brought this up, I have a picture of a civil war portrait of an Al Rowland. It was passed along to my mom. In the portrait he is clearly wearing a union cavalery uniform.
My moms part of the family are farther south, more around the Bolivar and Springfield area. Searching through the records of Cavalery from MO. I found the records of Alfred M Rowland for the 6th and 13th regiment cavalery volunteers. The state had an annotation on the 13th cavalery record that he was buried in Ball Mound Cemetery. Being this is near the area I know my mom's side of the family was from I assumed that the Al Rowland I have the portrait of is the Alfred M Rowland in the Cavalery records. Have not found any other records with an A Rowland or AL Rowland in cavalery records.
