David Roland served in the 3rd Regiment, Missouri State Militia, Cavalry (1st Organization); 7th Regiment, Missouri State Militia, Cavalry; and 13th Regiment, Missouri Cavalry. Note the spelling of Roland instead of Rowland. His brother, Alfred M. Rowland, served in the 13th Regiment, Missouri Cavalry.
