We have finished ALL of the Union regimental histories at the LOC. The 147th Pennsylvania regimental history book was by far one of the largest. They served in North Carolina and one of the best written histories on a Union regiment. Every little detail, but nothing on if they lost a flag or captured a flag.
Well between 55,000-60,000 Civil War books have been written. The LOC has many, but not all. I just wish they would let us borrow or loan some of the books. I get more reading done at my house then on the LOC hours. They are closed on Sunday's, which would be a huge help to check out say, 10-20 books.
We have a list of all of the Union Regimental histories we have read. I am searching magazines, internet Civil War book stores for missing Union Regimental histories (LOC did not have). Only the state of Virginia has a regimental history on all of its regiments. Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, Battalion in each as well. They use to go for 25 a book, but in Richmond, they are going for 35 a book. 25-35 dollars is well worth a regimental history, I just want them all, lol. I have never seen them all at any given place. The Fredericksburg Regional Library has many and I have gone through many of them. The hours at that place on the weekends are very short, five hours trying to cram, 100 books in. But that is the best place though.
