Re: 164th New York Flag Returned - 1883

Just recently, there was a re-enactment of a Civil War Veteran at the Fairview Cemetery Staten Island NY.. The veterans name was Patrick Gorman of Company E. 164th Vol. I assume this the Infantry that is refered to in this site. My wife's ancestors served with the 4th NY. Heavy Artillery and after the war, belonged to the GAR. I have a list of 46 graves at this cemetery also. But, I met some of the relatives of the Civil War Veteran that is interned at the cemetery and tried to find out where the flag of this unit was at. The NY State Military Museum has what is left of this flag. Only invited guests can see the remains of there regement flag. After the war, flags of the regements that fought in the Civil War, was put on display and of course, they were not taken care of. They did try to preserve some of the flags, but, they did not have the knowledge that is now available. Try and contact the NY Military Museum at Saratoga Springs NY.
