Re: Texas flags
Greg,
The information I have on the 24th says that they were sent (along with the 17th, 18th, & 25th) to Tullahoma, Tennessee to join the Army of Tennessee in May of 1863 after being paroled at City Point, Va. It took them a while to be accepted by any command due to their reputation as having "hoisted the white flag first" at Arkansas Post. Finally Cleburne took them and they fought as part of his division at Chickamauga. (I have a hospital report for my G-g-grandfather, Adam M. King of Co. B being wounded there) They are listed in the OR as being the 17th, 18th, 24th & 25th Consolidated until the April 30, 1864 returns when the 24th & 25th is listed as a seperate command. That is why I believe that the 24th & 25th had a flag separate from the 17th & 18th in the Spring of '64. All else is speculation on my part at this time.
