The Civil War Flags Message Board

Re: Captured Confederate Flag on Display

Shawn,
Being very aware that Mr. Lincoln is not the hero he is made out to be, I'd be really interested to see who he blames for starting the Civil War. Aside from Harriet Beeche Stowe that is... "so here's the little lady who started this big war". Lincoln's attitude toward the war was typical of a politician. Tell the people what they wanted to hear. In the Lincoln/ Douglas debates, he showed his true colors, yet people today call him "the Great Emancipator". Sorry this doesn't cover a flag issue, but you've peaked my interest. My e-mail is: ducknbears@hotmail.com
Just so this post will actually cover a flag related topic. I'm currently doing research to put together a brief presentation on Flags Carried by Texas Units During the "Late Unpleasantness" to be given to some of the local SCV camps. I'm using the Marberry book "Texas Flags", Al Summerall's "Flags Carried by Texans in the Civil War", and, of course, Howard Madeus' "Battle Flags of the Army of Tennessee" and the "Confederate Flags" website for sources (all properly cited, of course). Can any one direct me to any others.
