Thanks for posting this.

Richard Rollins, in his book about CS flags at Gettysburg, states that the 12th New Jersey took the flag of the 47th North Carolina Troops but that flag was sent to the War Department and entered as WD 68 and is now at the MOC.

Rollins only has the 12th New Jersey taking this flag and that of the 26th North Carolina (WD 62) but they could have taken another I suppose. I have not had the chance to check out all of the flags from the NC brigade to see how many were taken or saved. If they end up all being accounted for then this capture at Gettysburg is suspect.

I have the 12th New Jersey taking two flags in May 1864 (WD 139 and WD 132 or WD141) and the flag of the 18th North Carolina in April 1865.

I wish the article depicted the flag in question or gave more details about it.
