No Shoes
Leander Stillwell at Austin, Arkansas writes in his book that he was an officer (Sgt or Lt -?-) in the 61st Ill Inf US, that on a certain day he was the highest ranking officer in his unit and had to go to an officers meeting. He didn't want to go to the meeting because he didn't have a pair of shoes, but his men made him go. They may have loaned him a pair of shoes, its been so long since I read the book I just can't remember. If I remember right this happen in late September or early October of 1863.
