Re: Chain fires
The only chain fire I've ever had was in my fairly new and tight repo 36 cal colt. I loaded it and cut nice lead rings seating the balls and headed into the woods after hikeing awhile, a crow flew overhead and I took a shot at it. That's when the fun began with a ball of fire and smoke, it emptied every cylinder. I don't know where the balls when and I was not hurt except for a little burnt hair on my hand, but I can tell you I don't want to do that again. The problem was I had forgotten to grease the cylinders and maybe shooting up in the air had something to do with it, but I never forgot to lub the cylinders again! R.D.
