Lora, the Abner Smith who served in the 8th Arkansas Infantry was a Jackson County man, born c1832, wife's name Milly.

There's no record of your Abner H. Smith in any Arkansas Confederate regiment. There is a Confederate pension record of an A. H. Smith who applied from Van Buren County in 1907, citing service in Co. K, 10th Arkansas Infantry. Also a much younger A. H. Smith (born c1842) who served in Co. H, 7th Arkansas Infantry, killed in action at Atlanta, Georgia, July 22, 1864.
