Here is the full text of the reply I got...see the first sentence, specifically, as well as the last sentence

"Please be assured that the History Commission will be funded. However, the $120,000+ increase in their line item appropriation gave some of us reason to pause. The voters seemed pretty clear last fall that they want us to hold the line on growing government programs. We are looking at how to proceed on these increases, but we needed to send a message that we have concerns. We just can't continue to see continual increases every biennium.
I think the History Commission does good things as well. Please be confident that their budget will be approved, and very possibly with all the increases currently requested."

Seems like perhaps it is only the increase they are questioning?? I too agree, you catch more flies with sugar (and respect). I fully believe however, they must know how strongly I feel and if they choose to do otherwise it will be remembered on election day

And as you say, all of our Arkansas National Guard records go to the AHC so in the future any info desired by descendants will be found there. And we have literally thousands of combat veterans now so folks in the future will want to know more.
