Excellent information. Thanks a million. According to my oral family history,
Mary, called Polly, Price who was the widow of Lt. Fielding Price, was employed/ran the statgecoach stop
along that route in White County. Her oldest son Andrew Fielding Price, drove a freight wagon on that
route. This was after the Civil War ended and they had already lost their place for non-payment of taxes.
So the part about Stoney Point and Searcy in White County was especially interesting to me.
My question then is, what road ran through Butlerville? There is a section of old-old road that runs directly
west of the Alvin Smith Airfield. That means it intersects the highway to Des Arc at Butlerville directly
east of the firestation there. Does it date to Civil War times?
I also know from more oral history that Gen. Sterling Price came through the general area there on
his return to the state after the raid into Missouri. He was traveling with
Lt. Frederick Price at the time.
Knowing full well that no one has a crystral ball to view this with, but what would have been the most
logical route for Gen. Price and his group to have used?
