Hayes Lowe
A couple of guards' names.

Came across the name of two of the guards:

1. Charles "Little Charley" Tate

2. [first name unknown] Hankins

As far as I find in Broadfoot's, there is only one reasonable possibility for Tate:

C.B. Tate, Randolph County Reserves, Shepard's Company, Private

There is also a very short list that I consider possibilities for Hankins:

C.W. Hankins, 4th Ala. Reserves, Co. H, Private

F.M. Hankins, Exchange Battalion, 2nd Co. A, 3rd Co. B, Private

H.T. Hankins, 62nd Ala. Inf., Co. H, Private

The following are slight possibilities, but really only because I don't know enough about the 1st Confederate Regiment to rule it out, and the possibility that H.T. Hankins above is the Hopkins T. Hankins below:

Hopkins T. Hankins, 1st Confederate, 1st Co. G, Private

Hopkins T. Hankins, Dent's Battery, Artificer

J.C. Hankins, 1st Confederate, 2nd Co. I, Private

Both Hankins and Tate were notorious for their actions as guards...not men that Alabama should be proud to call their own, if the stories are even half true.
