Thanks much. This fills in a few more details for me on the 62nd. I had assumed that Lockhart's battalion did not have a full regiment (10 COs) until they were designated regular Inf in the spring of 65. Since at least two companies of the battalion were surrendered at Fort Gaines in Aug of 64 and spent the next few months in prison on ship Island the two companies of reserves at Cahawba in Oct of 64 could not have been Cos of the 62nd. (This was the connection I was trying to make) These two reserve COs (at Cahawba) must have been senior reserve. Unless of course they were some of the junior reserve that latter became the 63rd. By the way apologies to you and Hayes for mistaking your post above for his. I must read more carefully!
