Here are my notes on the 1st Junior Reserves. With the exception of some officers, these would all have been seventeen and younger -- no conscripts.

Company A of Bibb and Perry Counties Lockhart Cadets

James L. Davidson. Appointed Major of Lockharts Battalion, to rank from February 10, 1864.
William Columbus Ward. Promoted Captain to rank from February 10, 1864. Captured at Blakeley, Alabama, April 9, 1865; exchanged at Vicksburg, Mississippi, May 6, 1865. Surrendered May 11, 1865, at Meridian, Mississippi. [UA/58]

Organized at Talladega, Alabama, November 17, 1863, this company was accepted in Confederate service on November 24, 1863. Officers and men mustered at Selma, Alabama, January 27, 1864, becoming Company A of Lockharts Infantry Battalion.

Company B of Calhoun and St. Clair Counties Tom Watts Cadets

Brunaugh F. Yniestra. Appointed Major August 16, 1864.
Henry H. Foy. Promoted Captain to rank from August 16, 1864. Surrendered at Meridian, Mississippi, May 11, 1865.

Members enlisted at Talladega, Alabama, December 5, 1863. Mustering at Selma, Alabama, January 29, 1864, they served as Company B of Lockharts Infantry Battalion before August 16, 1864.

Company C of Shelby and Talladega Counties Bridge Guards

John W. Pitts. Appointed Major [March 1,] 1865; formerly Captain of Company K, 31st Alabama Infantry Regiment.
Wailes W. Wallace. Promoted Captain to rank from [March 1,] 1865. Paroled at Talladega, Alabama, May 26, 1865.

Accepted in Confederate service at Wilsonville, Alabama, December 7, 1863, this company mustered nearby on December 19, 1863. It served at Coosa Bridge as Company C of Lockharts Infantry Battalion prior to August 16, 1864.

Company D of Perry County Stonewall Cadets

James A. McCaw. Formerly 1st Lieutenant, P.A.C.S., and drillmaster at Camp Buckner, Talladega, Alabama. Wounded at Chehaw Station, Alabama, July 18, 1864.

Company members organized at Selma, Alabama, December 22, 1863. Accepted in Confederate service on January 29, 1864, they served as Company D of Lockharts Infantry Battalion prior to August 16, 1864.

Company E of Calhoun and Talladega Counties

Junius L. Walthall. Formerly 2nd Lieutenant, P.A.C.S., and drillmaster at Camp Buckner, Talladega, Alabama. Paroled at Talladega, Alabama, May 15, 1865.

This command held elections at Talladega, Alabama, January 18, 1864, and served as Company E of Lockharts Infantry Battalion.

Company F of St. Clair and Randolph Counties

Benjamin M. Huey. Formerly 2nd Lieutenant, P.A.C.S., and drillmaster at Camp Buckner, Talladega, Alabama. Relieved [September 6,] 1864; returned to his previous command.
Joseph P. Thornton. Elected Captain September 6, 1864; formerly 2nd Lieutenant, P.A.C.S., and drillmaster at Camp Buckner, Talladega, Alabama.

Company members held elections and were accepted in Confederate service at Selma, Alabama, July 12, 1864. Most surrendered at Fort Gaines, Alabama, August 8, 1864.

Company G of Talladega County Sam Morgan Cadets

William M. Donahoo. Paroled at Talladega, Alabama, May 16, 1865

Members elected officers January 28, 1864, at Talladega, Alabama. This company served as Company G of Lockharts Infantry Battalion prior to August 16, 1864.

Company H of Calhoun and Blount Counties

Joseph J. Alston. Formerly 1st Lieutenant of Company E, 1st Alabama Artillery Battalion, submitting his resignation February 25, 1864, to accept this office.

Officers and men mustered at Selma, Alabama, January 30, 1864. This company served as Company H of Lockharts Infantry Battalion prior to August 31, 1864, although many of its members been captured at Fort Gaines, Alabama, August 8, 1864.
