One of my wife's Great Grandfathers (Ashley Lovett) was a member of the 1st Alabama Cavalry (Yankee) from Winston County, Alabama. The other Great Grandfather was William Whitfield of the 43rd Georgia Infantry. Were these two opposing units, 1st Alabama Cavalry/43rd Georgia Infantry involved in the Battle of Chickamauga?
