I doubt these two ever met, William Whitfield eventually migrated to Northwest Florida, Ashley Lovett returned to Winston County. I discovered quite a number of Confederate graves in a cemetery in San Antonia in the early 1990's. Many, as I recall had went West after the war from Tennessee. Reading through issues of "Confederate Veteran" one sees many ex Confederates moving to Texas and beyond.
