Actually Ashley Lovett and William Whitfield are my wife's Great Grandfathers. Ashley Lovett was the third Lovett brother serving in the 1st Alabama Cavalry USA. He survived the war and died along about 1918 in North Alabama. William Whitfield of the 42rd Georgia Infantry lived well into the 1900's and is buried in extreme Northwest Florida between Jay and Munson at Pine Grove Cemetery. If they were up and about and not sick or on detached duty, they were probably at Resaca. If either one had been killed, my wife could not have been born as the person she is. I didn't have Harrison Whitfield's name, I suspect they were all three brothers, still to sort out.
