Died in Banks County, Georgia April 30, 1862. Whitfield, Harrison -- 3rd Corporal - March 4, 1862. Appointed 2nd Corporal November 1863. Roll dated February 29, 1864, last on file, shows him present. No later record.Whitfield, William -- Private - March 4, 1862. Surrendered at Greensboro, North Carolina April 26, 1865.As I also have both Union and Confederate ancestors, I've wondered about their proximity to one another on different battlefields. I noticed that your ancestors from the 1st AL Cav. (US) both died prior to the battle of Resaca, GA which occurred in early 1864.
