Couple years ago I was doing research on the 59th Va, and recall coming across some of this data. During that time frame the respective regiments of Wise were still fragmented and scattered about after the Roanoke Island foray. So one typically had to also focus on the individual companies within each since they frequently werent all co-located together as one usually would find. Fathoming through the reports, orders and directives it was like trying to herd cats, trying to muster them up together into some form of a fighting force of some actual use. Hense you may find a single point mustering of misc fragmented companies technically belonging to several different units to be reporting to some other designated Colonel. Different companies of these same commands sometimes showing up somewhere else at the same time frame. Sometimes takes a bit to weed it out to make some sence of what the actual picture was particularly with Wises troops at that time. It was not a complete mystery of why Wise Brigade was soon thereafter sent down into the deep south, as far away from Richmond as possible.... not to return till May 1864...

If you happen to stumble across any mention, invoice, issue statement, or any passive description of regimental flags for any of those units I would be most interested. None are known to have been turned in or survived less one late war (Oct/Nov64) replacement issue flag for the 26th Va. well after they returned to Va.
