Re: CS unit flags at Yorktown

Hello,

If anyone researching the Army of the Peninsula of John Magruder ever turns up period descriptions of the distinctive battle flags issued to them in April 1862 please let me know. 40 of these flags were made by Almanea Tompkins of Norfolk. They were square, made of single ply wool bunting and were divided diagonally into red and white quadrants (two). I have the description of them from the unit history of the 32nd Virginia who was still using theirs at Sharpsburg (as were units of Semmes' GA Brigade).

Any help is appreciated.
