The 46th Va commander at that time frame was probably LtCol J.H.Richardson.

Six companies of the 46th Va were still on parole awaiting exchange from their capture on Roanoke Island in Feb 1862. Much of these poor guys were deeply caught in the political tug-o-war quagmire of Henry Wises follys.
