It's a pretty much tangled web of Seays in Virginia units.

Here is what I have come up with re the given names you noted.

Robert Seay Enlisted as a Private in: VA Lynchburg Light Artillery

The American Civil War Research Database records him in the Lynchburg Light Artillery, did not survive the war. Their roster included a Captain Marcellus Newton Moorman in Shoemaker's Company, Virginia Horse Artillery (Beauregard Rifles) (Lynchburg Beauregards). I cannot locate a Seay in the records in the latter organization, nor can I find a roster for the Lyncburg LA

Private R. D. Seay, age 24, enlisted in Captain Gilbert V. Rambaut's Company, Virginia Volunteers**, April 18, 1862 at Suffolk, under remarks "(Co A) 14th Reg't Tenn out 23 April. Bounty paid by Lieut Baptist" His name does not appear in the roster of the 14th Tennessee.

**Subsequently became Company C, 18th Virginia Heavy Artillery Battalion
