Re: Captian John T Perrin Company E 26th Virginia

Believe this was the action in which Captain Perrin received his wound.

05 20 1864 Skirmish at Ware Bottom Church,* VA, with Maj. Gen. Benjamin Butler, USA

BGen. Wise reported 25 wounded of the 26th Virginia this day [OR V36 Pt. 2, p. 261]

Chaplain Wiatt recorded, “In the next three days (no date given) of fighting, Beauregard was able to push Butler back to a fortified position across Bermuda Neck. Unable to penetrate the strong defense, he constructed an equally strong position thereby keeping Butler, and 36,000 me, as General Grant put it. ‘in a bottle strongly corked.’

“ The Twenty-Sixth Virginia Infantry lost 2 killed and 48 wounded in the battle with Butler. Among the wounded was Captain John Perrin of Company E, who left the field with a wound of the knee.”
