I would believe that he would have been available for duty during any of the periods in which he was not recorded absent due to illness, furlough or leave.

As to presence at the Crater explosion, who knows. We know that he received a 60 day furlough from the Lake City, Fla. hospital on March 16, 1864. This would have expired on May 16. The subsequent muster held on August 31, 1864 lists him as present.

Based on this, it would be reasonable to believe he was present during the July 30 episode.
