Pensions: I am not sure - but I don't think the soldiers/wives were given pensions until abt 1901 (about $23 month). My great grand uncle, Louis Latil, Louisiana did not get one but his wife was the first widow of two widows) award the pension. It was a shock and she was very old.

We should take of vets better than we do. My son was in the Navy (Corpsman), my father in Marines, great grandfather WWI, my great grandfathers x3 Civil War (Louisiana, Texas) on down the War of 1814 in Louisiana and 1812 back east and so on!

So I have a deep connection to wanting our soldiers covered once home.

I live in Arizona and you probably have heard the TRUE horrible and illegal treatment of our vets at the VA Hospital. The govt stepped in and it is an ongoing process to help them.
