R.D. - that is exactly what I thinking. Used up and forgotten. Hrmph
Because of my behavioral health background, I find these mental wounds (or such) were as great as the physical wounds for these forgotten soldiers. (much like today and WWI, WWII, hell- all wars).

I gave this a lot of thought. My Great Grandfather, 11th bat. Co E was in arrest in Houston July 1863; then listed as Deserted by 1864. I can only find a few things after that. I read a news article in Galveston that I believe was about Thomas Cussen (Cousins). He remarried about 8-10 years after the war (in Galveston) and later was in court on assault charges of his new bride. Although, he was not charged in the end, I wonder. No, I believe he carried horrific memories.

The situations you described were so sad. Really heartbreaking. Thanks for your thoughts.
