According to Linda S. Hudson in Chapter 4, The Knights of the Golden Circle in Texas, from the book The Seventh Star of the Confederacy, edited by Kenneth W. Howell, Ben Mculloch attended the Kinght's Convention in 1860 and worked directly with many of the leaders of that organization. I did not find Jefferson mentioned in that book. Certainly, McCulloch would have been familar with the Knight's flags.
