There's another illustration in a later Harper's that I really like. It shows a man with a sketch pad maneuvering some toy soldiers on a table in an office, no doubt in New York City. The label is "Our Artist in the Field." The way some of these "on the spot" illustrations look, I'd swear that they were created just that way! ;-)
