Re: Austin City Light Artillery Company

Great information. Thank you. Jacob Peter Schneider opened a grocery store in Austin on the corner of 2nd and Guadalupe. The family lived across 2nd Street. The store still stands and currently houses Lambert's restaurant. In the Amli building on the opposite corner where the home was, is an underground 2-room beer vault, constructed by J. (Jean) Schneider. He was a brewer, trained in Germany, and had opened a brewery in a saloon on Congress. The beer vaults have National Historic Register documentation as does the store.

I am glad to be able to share information with you.

Ann
